Michael, Manager Forward Model & System Development
  • YAZAKI: “Michael, could you please give us a short CV and a summary of your tasks?”
Michael: “My name is Michael Kisiel and I'm 53 years old. I have been working for 27 years in the automotive business and at YAZAKI for the past 15 years. Currently, I'm responsible for the FM&SD department
Communication and passion are key.
  • (Forward Model & System Design). This engineering department is supporting our BUs (Business Units) in Europe with regard to predevelopment projects and RFQs, in case any technical support is required. In addition, I'm in charge of the CVBU engineering team in Europe and Mercedes BU engineering group.”
  • YAZAKI: “After 15 years at YAZAKI, how would you describe the essential benefits YAZAKI's employees find?”
Michael: “YAZAKI is a privately owned company with more than 250,000 employees worldwide. This gives you many opportunities in an open work environment with colleagues from many different cultures. In our department, more than 70 engineers in different locations - Porto, Pilsen, Stuttgart, Cologne and Gothenburg – work for FM&SD like a big family, according to the motto 'one for all, all for one'. Furthermore, to be successful in a challenging job, you need to have a work-life balance. Private time and daily job are both important and have to be in line. YAZAKI clearly does share this point of view. Another important benefit of working here is security – even at the climax of the Lehman Brothers crisis people stayed at YAZAKI. It is a privately owned firm and not led by invisible shareholders. It fills the term of corporate social responsibility with life.”
  • YAZAKI: “How do you see YAZAKI's future?“
Michael: “I'm convinced that YAZAKI's future is a bright one. YAZAKI is a very innovative company. We have advanced research centers in Japan and North America and as an EEDDS supplier (Electrical/Electronic Distribution & Display System), YAZAKI acts worldwide with regular global engineering meetings. Here we exchange innovation and new technologies with the participation of all regions (EU, America, Asia, Japan) and we define the future strategy to support the overall YAZAKI organization. We are the biggest wire harness supplier in the world, but we are not only a wiring harness maker like some of our competitors. YAZAKI has outstanding knowledge of the entire system and the electrical architecture of a vehicle.”
  • YAZAKI: “What career opportunities does YAZAKI offer for leaders and future leaders?
Michael: “YAZAKI offers leadership training for all managers and team leaders. They all have to be trained to be successful leaders of their teams. Participants learn how to discuss serious problems, how to act in conflicts, how to communicate with others, make decisions, delegate and set focus on results, show initiative and creativity … These are key items for your daily work success in leading a team. Our common principle is: when you become a leader, success is all about making others grow. But YAZAKI does not only focus on leaders. YAZAKI passionately supports every employee on his or her professional way, and everyone gets regular personal feedback.”
